What does it really take to be fit? I know that between the internet, television, the food industry, and pharmaceutical companies it can be very difficult to get a full understanding on what it takes to be really fit. Every time you open a magazine or turn on your television you see a very skinny fitness model or some guy who has the perfect shape with abs ripped up like a parking ticket telling you to buy a specific product because it did wonders for them. These people have never used that product in their entire time of being on planet earth, they are just models who get paid to say “this changed my life and it will change yours too when you call now to order with a full money back guarantee if not satisfied”.

These companies even go as far as telling you the truth about possible side effects such has possible heart attack, nausea, depression, loss of sex drive, etc… but somehow they still manage to  make a substantial amount of profit from every day consumers like yourself.  What’s wrong with that picture? If I told you that I smoked and drank alcohol 5- 8 times a day will you still allow me to be your fitness coach? I would think not.

The world we live in is a very fast and unforgiving one. Everything has been pre-made to suite the lifestyle of this fast growing society

with the easy click of a button, swipe of a card or ingestion of a pill. We have given science the ability to take full control of our lives where they actually have the power to determine the foods we eat or the style of clothing we wear. If you disagree with what I am saying that’s perfectly fine but think about this for a moment. How many phone numbers do you have memorized off the top of your head without the use of speed dial? when was the last time you found a location without the use of a navigation system? have you ever just had a full coarse meal and then got hungry immediately right after seeing a fast food commercial ?

Why am I not seeing results?

 Chances are you already have a pretty good idea on what it takes to  shed unwanted pounds which is eat right and stay active. But being that you are reading this then that means you need help. Before we start this journey you must first learn how to be real with yourself and tell yourself if you are truly ready for this journey. You must learn accountability and come into this program with a full understanding that the most important element of weight loss is what you bring to the table. Find what your drives are that will help you succeed and keep you motivated.

 I will not lie and tell you that this is the easiest thing you will ever do. On the contrary it is one of the hardest things you will ever do in your life. This is a life change event that will require diligence and the highest level of commitment. You must be willing to change habits that you have been accustomed to doing for years such as eating late at night, not exercising enough, or even making more visits to the Doctor for you annual checkup . Think about this for one second, How many times have you heard someone say that they are going to the gym to lose weight but they still look the same after months of exercising? Why do you think that is? That’s right you guessed it. They failed to change their habits. Albert Einstein once said that “ insanity is defined as doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results.

How well do you really know yourself ? Get to know your body composition such as your weight and body fat percentage. You should also know your measurements in your waist, thighs, hips, stomach, arms, chest and neck. If you are able to squeeze a metabolic test into your budget that will also be a plus. This test will give you a great idea on how your body burns calories during rest. Once you have gotten all of those important information about yourself you can finally say that you have gotten to know you a little bit more.

As you learn more about yourself you will find out that you are your own enemy and no one else. It is very important to know that no one can force you to do what you do not want to do. Every decision you have ever made as an adult has been decided by no one else except you. You decide what to eat, what movie to watch, what colors to wear, and everything else. In this journey you must learn to “think before you move not move before you think”.
